Mushroom plant
Rungia Klossii, known as mushroom plant has mushroom flavoured leaves with a fabulous texture. The crisp crunchy leaves go perfectly in salads. Very easy to prepare, throw into omelettes, stir-frys and risottos. The stems can go into stews and soups (add to the end of cooking to ensure full mushroom flavour). Rich in vitamin A, C, calcium and iron AND higher in protein than mushrooms!
Growing Info
A perennial, the mushroom plant loves warm, shady positions. They are slower growing in winter. The plant has tiny blue flowers in spring. Harvest leaves reguarly to promote growth. Plant seedlings 40cms apart, give low water and low fertilizer.
