Garlic chives are perennials that look like onion chives however have a more garlicky flavour. They have a flat, grass-like leaf and the flowers and stems are edible. Mass planting looks terrific or you can plant as a ground cover or plant in a pot. Used worldwide in many culinary uses such as in herbal vinegars, salads, soups, soft cheeses, compound butters, and grilled meat. It's ornamental properties attract butterflies to the garden.
Planting Info
Full sun, well-draining soil, growing to approx 20-30cm tall. Space 15-20cm apart, they will spread as they grow. Minimal care is needed for fully grown plants. To use the plant, clip the stems either all the way to the ground or with 2 inches (5 cm) remaining which allows the herb to grow back.
