Horseradish (root)
Horseradish is a perennial that grows up to approx 100cm tall. Traditionally used in cooking served as a sauce or dip, it pairs with a variety of meats. The white root of the horseradish plant is in the same family as mustard and wasabi. If you eat horseradish with rich or fatty foods it helps with digestion. Grow horseradish from plants or root cuttings set out in spring or autumn.
Planting Info
Plant in early spring, in deep dug well-drained soil. Ensure the soil is loose with lots of compost mixed in. Requires lots of regular watering. Once you have a plant established and mature you can divide the root by cutting into smaller pieces of about 8cm and plant (with the tops) around 3cm below ground level and at least 40cm apart.
