Chives

$7.00Price

Chives are perennial herbs that are best planted in early spring for a late spring and early summer harvest.  A member of the onion family, they have slender bulbs that produce thin, tubular leaves reaching about 10-15 inches in height. The chive flowers are edible and have an onion flavour.  Flowers can be white, pink, purple, or red, depending on variety and are used in salads mostly.  Very bee and butterfly attracting! Chives look particularly lovely mass planted in a garden when they are in flower.

Planting Info
Full sun (will tolerate part shade) in loamy, sandy soil. Space them 20-30cm  apart as they will spread as they grow. Minimal care is needed for fully grown plants.
