Cornflowers look very ornamental and attract the bees and butterflies to the garden. An annual plant, having edible flowers that are widely used to decorate cakes and desserts. In the past the plant often grew as a weed in cornfields, hence its name. Cornflowers have an upright posture, helping them fit in tight spaces. The cornflower nectar is unusually sweet making it a delicious food source for many beneficial insects. Plant throughout the garden. They make beautiful cut flowers.
Planting Info
Plant in full sun position in good well-drained soil. Encourage growth by adding some balanced organic fertilizer. If planting together, space 20cms apart.
