Watercress
Commonly used in salads, sandwiches and soups, watercress is a delicious edible plant used in finishing off a dish and for presentation. A very versatile green to have in the garden. The smaller leaves are more desirable for their light peppery taste. The Maori people love to use the mature stems of the plant in traditional pork broth stew. Watercress is widely mistaken as a waterplant. It does love water but the key is a consistent supply of water as it does not like to be water-logged.
