Lemon Verbena
Lemon Verbena is a deciduous shrub with a clean lemon taste making it delicious as a hot herbal tea (adding some mint or ginger tastes wonderful). This herb is also used in savoury dishes. Acting like a mild sedative the plant has been used to treat fevers and minor digestive disorders. As an insect repellent, crush leaves and rub on body or clothes to deter flies and mosquitos.
Growing Info
Prefers well-drained soil in a warm, sunny position (is frost hardy). Needs watering during dry times. Prune back in spring when new growth appears. Grows to 2m tall with lemon scented leaves. Can be propagated by cuttings.
