Peppermint
The Peppermint leaf is an oblong shape with dark green leaves and a slightly purple tinge of colour. It has pointed tips, obvious veins and produces small pink, white or purple flowes at the end of each stem during the warmer months. Lovely in tea, add in other herbs for a mix of flavour (mixing with chamomile flowers aids to settle an upset stomach). Can also be used in desserts and dressings or marinades. Medicinally, peppermint is widely used to help treat colic, nausea, colds and fevers. The menthol contained has antiseptic properties and mild anesthetic.
