Gota Kola (Pennywort)
A perennial ground cover, Gota Kola (Pennywort) have round leaves on short stems. The flowers are small, a pinkish red in colour and very small bunches and then flattened fruit. Research has shown they contain a substance that speeds the healing of wounds and burns and reduces scarring. It has anti-inflammatory properties which improves circulation. In cooking, sprinkle the fresh leaves into salads and add to curries or steam as a vegetable.
Planting Info
Growing up to 120cm high, rooting at nodes as it spreads. Prefers a moist position in full sun or semi shade. Separate the plant by it's runners to get more plants. Requires a large surface area to allow sufficient growth and leaf production.
